Aleatico dell’Elba

DOCG

Sweet Wine

The Aleatico dell’Elba Passito DOCG is considered a true flagship of the island from an enological perspective, with wine festivals organized in its honor. Legend has it that Napoleon fell madly in love with Aleatico dell’Elba, even consuming it for breakfast during his stay on the island! This natural sweet wine, which is not fortified, is characterized by extraordinary elegance and unparalleled aromatic intensity. Traditionally reserved for special occasions, it is made from grapes harvested in the second half of August, followed by drying on racks in the open air for about 10-15 days. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks with a maceration on the skins lasting approximately seven days. The color is a brilliant ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose and palate, it reveals notes of cherry jam, mulberries, blueberries, and tea rose, with a slightly balsamic and briny finish. The wine is sweet but not cloying, supported by a pleasant savory note and well-balanced tannins. Thanks to its aromaticity and persistence, it pairs perfectly with blackberry or plum tarts, blue cheeses, and dark chocolate.
